Alex Coomber is a former skeleton racer won a bronze medal for Great Britain at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics despite having a broken wrist.
She took up sliding in 1997 and holds many records for the event. She won the Women's Skeleton World Cup on three consecutive occasions. She also set records at La Plagne, Lake Placid and Nagano, and won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2001.
A former RAF intelligence officer, she retired from competitive sliding to return to her previous career.
