Willie Carson is a retired jockey who was British Champion Jockey on five occasions. Born in 1942, he began his career as an apprentice jockey with Captain Gerald Armstrong in North Yorkshire. He rode his first winner, Pinker's Pond, in 1962 at Catterick.
