Taylor was the son of a sportswriter, and he knows what it takes to make a good headline, he learned long ago how to turn criticism into humour. He is one of the most controversial of all England managers; he has many stories to share over his days in charge of the International team.
National catchphrases such as ‘do I not like that’ and ‘do I not like orange’ are known to come from Taylor. It was after a playing career with Grimsby town & Lincoln City was cut short by injury that he started to establish himself as an outstanding young manager, first with Lincoln then moved to Watford.
Whilst at Aston Villa he landed the England job in succession to Bobby Robson, he had an adventurous time that has given him the foundation of countless amusing and amazing stories.
He is currently remains a honoury life president at Watford, before this he had a spell as chairman, previous to this he had returned to club management with Wolves & Aston Villa.
