He made his name as a ball-juggling forward with Fulham, Queen’s Park Rangers and Manchester City before crossing the Pond to become a key player and then coach on the North American circuit.

He became a controversial, hard-hitting pundit for Sky, never frightened to speak his mind and peppering his comments with biting humour that was considered at times to be over the top.

Rodney, whose nine caps for England hardly reflected his stunning ability, divides his time between London and Florida, where he runs a successful property business with his son.
