During an illustrious amateur career, he represented his country on many occasions and won the highly prestigious London ABA Flyweight Title.

Duke McKenzie was born in 1963 in Croydon, South London, and is the youngest of five brothers. This Family has achieved lots throughout the last 3 decades as the famous fighting family. Between them, they have won Championships, Titles and Belts at all levels of the sport, from Amateur to Professional, at National, European and World Title levels including mention in the Guinness Book of Records. The great McKenzie family consists of professional and amateur boxers: Dudley McKenzie, Winston McKenzie and British and European Champion Clinton McKenzie.

Duke turned professional in1982 and won his debut fight at Wembley, which was the beginning of the most distinguished Boxing career Britain has ever known since the great Bob Fitzsimmons at the turn of the country.

McKenzie has been British champion at two weights, a European Champion once and World Champion at three different weights. His professional record is 39-7 (20 by KO).

He won the British Flyweight Title in 1985 with a 4th round stoppage over Danny Flynn. He later defended this against Charlie Magri in 1986 and added Magri’s European (EBU) Flyweight Title.

Both titles were relinquished when McKenzie won the IBF World Flyweight Title in October 1988.

In June 1991, McKenzie became a World Champion for a second time, winning the WBO Bantamweight Title with a 12-round decision over Gaby Canizales.

In October 1992, McKenzie became a three-weight World Champion, beating Jesse Benavides after twelve rounds.

On 18th December 1993, McKenzie became a four-weight champion, beating John Davison for the British Featherweight Title.

Duke hails from the most successful boxing family in the history of boxing worldwide.

Since retiring, Duke has commentated on ITV’s boxing coverage in the UK since September 2005. He previously commentated on boxing for BBC Radio Five Live and BBC television.

Duke is a highly personable and articulate man, and a consummate professional, and a fine ambassador for his sport.
