Gates head-born Norman was one of the most famous and feared defenders back in the days when football was very much a game of physical contact. Hunter played alongside Jack Charlton in the tough but talented Leeds team that challenged for the major trophies under Don Revie's management in the 1960s and 1970s.
Norman won 28 England caps and was a non-playing member of the 1966 World Cup winning team. He played 540 League games for Leeds before winding down his career with Bristol City and then Barnsley.
Norman had brief managing experience with Barnsley and Rotherham and then turned to local radio broadcasting and after-dinner speaking. His tales of the way the game used to be proving popular with audiences fascinated by his eventful playing experiences.
